A fun day out ….. The NEC Solihull

Saturday 1st July.  Early knock at the door.  My daughter Hannah had come to pick me up.  We were off to the Stitching Sewing and Hobbycrafts Show at the National Exhibition Centre Solihull.  To my surprise my Grandson had hitched a lift and was joining us for the day.   He is very creative so it would be a good day for him too.

We arrived at the NEC and caught the shuttle bus to the actual Exhibition Centre. We walked to Hall 12.

After collecting our passes and tickets we were guided to our workshops.   Today we were doing Papercrafts and Tapestry.

We went to the Creative Den.

A lovely Brunch had been laid out and looked so appetising.

Each place at the table where we sat was a ruler, scoring pad, scorer and a pair of scissors.   Our first event was to create a House Gift Box.

We were each asked to take a bottom and a roof.  Following instructions we folded and glued as necessary

My grandson really enjoyed taking part.   After decorating these are our finished houses.

My House

My Daughters House

My Grandson’s House.  He was so precise with his patterns and cutting out.  It was beautiful

All three houses together.    We then started to walk around the exhibition.

We saw some gorgeous willow sculptures once of which is shown below.

Then my daughter asked me to knit her a flower brooch so I spent the next 3/4 hours sitting, chilling and knitting.  Superb.  A day out and crafting 🙂

My Grandson, whilst I was knitting, went with his Mum and created some hand made paper.

I had prepared a snack lunch so we took some time out to sit and eat the same.  Was well deserved and thoroughly needed at this point.

We wandered around for another couple of hours looking at the superb creations that were being displayed and adding to our creative ideas.

These are some plymer bracelets created by Members of the British Polymer Crafts Guild.

Finally on our way out we looked at the fantastic sea side scene that has been created with every item being knitted.  Absolutely fantastic  Donations were being given and this was going to the Alzheimers Society.

Really enjoyable day, very tired by the end of it but looking forward to the next one.
