New Years Resolution – Healthier Lifestyle

Was one of your New Year’s resolutions to eat and become a lot healthier.   Mine was.  When I was given the opportunity to review two new and upcoming products, I jumped at the chance.

From the age of 6 I have been a diabetic.  My health and well being is extremely important to me.  It is also nice once in a while to eat a treat.   I do not drink milk so one way of having a treat and also getting some calcium is via Ice Cream.    I was really excited when I was approached to promote a new company.  Their Ice Cream is not only delicious but also a lot lower in sugar than others.  Upto 60% less.

Oppo is made from cold-pressed, wild harvested virgin coconut oil, stevia leaf, and fresh milk from meadow-grazed cows free to roam and eat naturally. It has a fraction of the calories and sugar found in regular ice cream.

This is available in 4 flavours ;-  Madagascan Vanilla, Salted Caramel, Mint Chocolate Swirl and Colombian Chocolate and Hazelnut.  I tried the Vanilla Ice Cream and it was amazing.

The Salted Caramel Ice Cream contains lucuma (known as the ‘gold of the incas’) in Peru.  This is shaped like a melon, with a golden flesh.  This contains beta carotene, iron, zinc, vitamin B3, calcium and protein.   This give the Ice Cream a smooth maple taste and is enhanced with a pinch of rich mineral sea-salt.

The Vanilla Ice Cream contains Madagascan vanilla pods and the African Baobab fruit.  It is thick and creamy but has a really low fat content.  The fruit gives this a rich source of Vitamin C, potassium and also have more antioxidants than any other fruit.

Using American mint leaves, the Mint Swirl Ice Cream is extremely decadent.  The rich cacao swirl is highlighted by spirulina to create a smooth and creamy ice cream.  Spirulina is a vibrant green plant from South China and is high in protein, vitamins and iron.

Colombian Chocolate and Hazelnut Ice Cream contains Cacao Fino de Aroma which comes directly from the plantations of Columbia making the cacao the cream of the crop.

RRP: £4.99 (500ml) – available at Sainsbury’s, Asda, Waitrose, Wholefoods, Budens, Holland & Barrett & online at Ocado.

The second product and again a new and innovative one are the drinks from Little Miracles.

I was sent three flavours to review:-

  •   Baobab – Organic Glow – containing Baobab, Ginger and Agave
Yerba mate used comes from the naturally caffeinated and nourishing leaves of the South American rainforest. With its strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea and the euphoria of chocolate, yerba mate blends perfectly well with the exotic baobab fruit. The fruit of Africa’s ‘’Tree of Life’’ baobab is the only fruit in the world that dies right on the branch where it sits. We simply harvest and sieve to produce a 100% natural and organic powder that is exceptionally nutrient-rich, supporting a wide range of benefits. With a touch of ginger, this little miracle offers delicate and refreshingly distinct taste.
  • Cherry – Organic Vibrance – containing cherry, Acai, Ginseng and Agave.  An energising fusion of nature’s most revitalising fruits and purest white tea, blended with the zing of ginseng to give you a refreshingly healthy natural lift.
Although white tea practically has been known in the Far East since the Ming Dynasty, the tea is relatively new to many people. Green, Black and White tea all derives from the same plant. The buds selected for the white tea are however harvested at a far more immature stage. After the harvest, the buds chosen for white tea are gently
processed in order to prevent oxidation or further fermentation, the purpose of this light processing is in order to retain the delicate taste and natural benefits.
  • Orange – Organic Awakening – Orange, Ginger and Agave.  Inside this bottle of Little Miracles is a beautiful blend of organic Lemongrass extract, orange juice and ginger.
The lemongrass used provides a mild citrus taste. Being a native herb of Mexico, lemongrass is a cornerstone in the old Mexican folk medicine where it is said to provide a wide range of benefits including aiding digestion and treatment of high blood pressure. Choosing only the best, freshest and perfectly ripe orange, the juice provides an absolutely delicious taste. And finally blended with aromatic and spicy, ginger which adds a special taste and zest. Sweetened with cane sugar and agave this naturally caffeine free Little Miracles is less than 90 calories per bottle. Without any artificial colours or flavours. With a refreshing zest of ginseng, it is the perfect pick-me-up morning, noon or afternoon.

The flavours taste amazing and really refreshing.  Definitely a superb Little Miracle and totally recommended.

RRP: £1.59 – available at Asda, Tesco, Ocado, W H Smith Travel, WholeFoods among other retailers.
