A Brilliant Book for Bedtime

Darmachari Nagarja has created another book in his collection of stories to help children get over the stresses of daily life, and to be able to chill at bedtime.

The Calm Buddha at Bedtime is a collection of stories linked to Wisdom, Compassion and Mindfulness.

There are 18 stories which are fun and beautifully illustrated. This book is the awaited follow on book to Buddha at Bedtime and Buddha’s Apprentice at Bedtime, which between them have sold over 200,000 copies worldwide.

Children growing up in the Modern World have an ever increasing amount of stress to deal with. This can cause both us and them to worry.

The ideal basis for helping a child to cope with these challenges ,enabling them to build their confidence and inner calm, is The ancient Wisdom of Buddhism, with its emphasis on peace, mindfulness and compassion.

This book retells 18 ancient Buddhist tales, through storytelling and in a way that is easy for a child to access and fun to read too.

The full page originally illustrated pictures will help a child’s imagination to be transported into worlds of enlightenment and discovery.  They will meet an assortment of characters and learn about the Buddhist messages that will give them the power to think about how they can transfer these to their lives – patience, honesty, authenticity and generosity.

The stories help to calm the mind and transfer the child into a soothing sleep.  There is a selection of gentle mindfulness meditations at the end that can be used at anytime to enhance the sense of calm and contentment.

These stories can be read to children aged 4-8 years of age and can be read independently there after.

The author has been a practising Buddhist for the past 20 years.  Formerly he was the Head of the Covent Garden Meditation Centre in London and has been a regular presenter on BBC Radio 2’s Pause for Thought with Terry Wogan.  Darmachari now lives in Glasgow, where he works as a Psychosynthesis Psychotherapist and teaches Counselling at the University of Glasgow. His passion for both storytelling and Buddhism shows again in this third book in the collection of Bedtime Stories.  Each book shows his appealing combination of wit, warmth, wisdom and playfulness.
