Ravensburger – A piece of Italy in your home.

Italy has thousands of tourists a year.  One place that is regularly visited is the town of Pisa.  Why?  Pisa is well known for its famous leaning Tower.

The Leaning Tower of Pisa or simply the Tower of Pisa is the campanile or freestanding belltower of the cathedral, of the Italian City.   It is known worldwide for its unintended tilt.

The tower is situated behind Pisa Cathedral and is the third oldest structure in the city’s Cathedral Square.

The tilt of the tower began during its construction in the 12th Century and was caused by inadequate foundations on grounds that were too soft on one side.   This did not hold the structure’s weight.   The tilt gradually increased until the tower was stabilised in the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Ravensburger puzzles have created a 3d Jigsaw that enables you to build this well known landmark and be able to have in your home.  It even lights up so you can see the splendour of the design when dark.  (Ravensburger Leaning Tower of Pisa Night Edition)  It uses LED technology to allow this effect.

The outer packaging gives clear photos of the puzzle inside.

Once opened you can see that the box contains everything that you need to create this unique design.  All you do need to add is the batteries for the light.

When we decided to make the jigsaw, we sorted the pieces out into sets of 10’s according to the numbers clearly marked on the inside.    1 – 10  11 – 20  21 – 30   and so on until we had sorted all 216 pieces.

Clear instructions are given as to how you place the plastic supports contained in the jigsaw.

The light box is located in the bottom section.

Starting with piece number 1 you work around the support following the arrows detailed on each piece.  Some pieces you have to turn so that the arrow points upwards and then the piece above starts the next rotation.

You continue to build placing the pieces in numerical order and following the arrows round and up.

When you get to piece 192 you add the second plastic structural piece.

The final section is built on top.   This is the finished puzzle.   I did not take a photo of the night view as wanted to leave some of this puzzle as a surprise.

This jigsaw was sent to us to review and we have to say that it was a thoroughly enjoyable puzzle to do.  The pieces fit together lovely and the design is superb.  The puzzle is of a high quality and is 48cm high when finished.  The completed puzzle is strong and sturdy.

It is lovely having a little bit of Italy in our home.
