Baking with your grandson – Tiramisu

My eldest Grandson, aged 10, always walks through our front door and immediately say ‘What are we making today.’   This could be something foodie or crafty.

So he was amazed when I said we were going to make a Tiramisu.  He made a fab job.  Here is our recipe.

Coffee Liqueur

1/2 cup cold black coffee

2 eggs

2 1/2 oz caster sugar

8oz Marscapone

1/2 pint double cream

2 small madeira cake slabs

2oz grated dark chocolate

Put some coffee liqueur into the cold coffee.  stir well.    Slice the cake thinly and lay one layer on the bottom of a dish or bowl.   Drizzle over some of the liqueur mix.

In a large bowl and using an electric whisk combine the eggs and caster sugar until think and light.  I know when it is done as you can, with the whisks, drizzle your initial onto the top of the mixture.    In a separate bowl put in the marscapone and a little of the egg mix.  Stir then fold in the rest.  Add the cream.

Over the first layer of cake add a layer of the cream mix.   Then repeat with the cake slices, liqueur and cream mix until the dish or bowl is full, finishing on a cream layer.

Sprinkle with the grated chocolate and place into a fridge to chill for at least 4 hours.

My grandson really enjoyed making this.  A Chef in the making.

Hope you enjoy my recipe as much as we did.  This pudding did not last very long.
