60th Anniversary of Lego – Hamleys Promotion

Have you thought about how toys have changed over the last 60 years.       During the 1950’s top of the list were the Hula Hoop, Frisbee and Lego. Toy Drum, Wooden Blocks and Dolls were also played with .

Children in the 1980’s I wonder how many will remember Teddy Ruxpin, Chips Toys, Amplifier Helmets, Lego, Cabbage Patch Kids and Glo Worms.

Parents could buy Simpsons Toys, Where’s Wally characters, Lego, Nintendo and Games, Game boy in the 1990’s.

Now into the New Millenium and 60 years later toys have changed dramatically, with a lot of hand held computers, tablets and electronic games.  But when reading the list did you notice that one toy has been available for 60 years.  Lego.

In 2018 Lego is celebrating their 60th Anniversary.  Named as Toy of the century, did you know that 6 identical two by four pieces can create over 900 million combinations.  Patented on 28th January 1958, the small Danish company has now become world reknowned.  Enjoyed by adults and children alike.
